This pic made me stop. I found one of these years ago when I was a kid. Do you know what it is? Back then, it was a weird, secret thing I'd discovered in a hedge, I think. (SI, NZ)

It's a lattice fungus -one of the stinkhorn family - pretty common round the Wairarapa and spectacular! Also very stinky.
And maori myth says they are the droppings of ghosts!
